| Can I use Cakewalk 3.x for controlling a couple of Martin Roboscan 812 with the help of your software? | |||||||||
| I know that Cakewalk can work with MultiMusic DMX Light software simultaneously, also when using Midi Router. What you have to pay attention for is "Smooth" parameter (auto crossfading between scenes), which can not work along with full extra midi control (recalling of scenes via midi). This problem could be solved only with integration of the light software with a midi sequencer (at least, by importing midi files). But it is not solved still. Some scanners have the "Beam speed" parameter which can be edited in every scene so that automatic crossfading within Pan/Tilt channels is not so necessary. I don't remember exactly, but it seems to me, Roboscan 812 has no any speed parameter control. That can be a problem. | |||||||||

|||||||||
| I plugged my Martin Roboscan 218 to the controller box, and my scanner is always running reset, tere's no any control, what did I do wrong? | |||||||||
| Some scanner brands have reversed polarity in their XLR-3 inputs. You need to reverse "hot" and "cold" wires in the first cable going from our controller box. | |||||||||
|
|||||||||
| Why you include LPT cables into the package? | |||||||||
LPT cables are not the same. Some of them work with "MultiMusic DMX Light" controller, but some not. Here are examples of good and bad LPT cables (all of them work with printer without problems):

| Please can explain me how the hardware with the flashrom works. Do you have than any possibility recall the sequences directly? | |||||||||
| Last year our users mostly bought flashrom version (hardware 3.7), because it has new feature - tempo-track play mode. But anyway you can not change the order of sequences in autonom mode (except for hardware 3.7U + control board). The order of sequences in autonom mode is the same as in SHOW or random. Synchronization is from sound or from tempo-track (tempotrack data is loaded from show). If synchro is from sound, sequence is followed by another after a pause detecting. The version 3.7U have the same behavior until you plug control board U18 to it.Last year our users mostly bought flashrom version (hardware 3.7), because it has new feature - tempo-track play mode. | There is a lot of requests about a min 1024 channel version. Will it be developed? | |||||||||
| The real action, which can be expectable this year, is sending MIDI messages for synchronization with second computer. The next step we plan to realize is using 2 LPT ports in 1 computer (2 dmx lights controllers correspondingly). | |||||||||

| Movement with delay Very good looking programms with intelligent lighting are if each scanner have delay from another. How can I do this quickly for 4 same scanners and 25-scene-sequence? |
|||||||||
| Just try the next:
1. Make 25-scene-sequence for 1-st scanner. 2. Copy sequence state of the 1-st scanner from scene 1 to scene 24. 3. Paste sequence state to the 2-nd scaner from scene 2 to scene 25. 4. Copy scene 25 of the 1-st scanner to scene 1 of the 2-nd scanner. 5. Copy sequence state of the 2-nd scanner from scene 1 to scene 24. 6. Paste sequence state to the 3-d scaner from scene 2 to scene 25. 7. Copy scene 25 of the 2-nd scanner to scene 1 of the 3-d scanner. 8. Copy sequence state of the 3-d scanner from scene 1 to scene 24. 9. Paste sequence state to the 4-th scaner from scene 2 to scene 25. 10. Copy scene 25 of the 3-d scanner to scene 1 of the 4-th scanner. It's done! |

| The "box" works fine with my computer but is not detected in a clubs computer. What could be the problem? Do I need to configure something? | |||||||||
| Do you use the same printer cable? Not every cable go. If cable is the same, try to change address in "Synch and Hardware" | |||||||||

| We have a number of exactly the same fixtures such as PAR's connected through a DMX dimmer (DMX to 0-220v. converter). We have made a fixture template with two buttons per channel (switch on, switch off) to operate them but this is very inconvenient as it is necessary to first select the fixture then go to on, or off. It is also easy to get confused due to the number of fixtures on the device map. | |||||||||
| Place the PAR's on sequential DMX channels, create the fixture template with 64 buttons, 32 for on and 32 for off, place text labels for each PAR (1-32) and then you can control all the PAR's from one template. | |||||||||

| What is the minimum specification of a PC for reliable operation of the program? | |||||||||
During testing of various PC configurations the following results were obtained.
|
|||||||||
|
|||||||||
| What are the limitations on the number of fixtures connected to the controller without DMX splitters or amplifiers? | |||||||||
| According to the technical specifications of the controller chip, the maximum output current can provide for 32 fixtures (4 outputs x 8 devices), without further equipment. However, in practice the number of fixtures can be more due to the fact that many modern fixtures contain active DMX interfaces. | |||||||||
|
|||||||||
| I have looked at your program and I have some changes that I would like implemented in the next version. | |||||||||
| We accept items for the wish list with great pleasure. The program is continually being improved and we may incorporate items from the wish list. | |||||||||
|
|||||||||
| I have downloaded your program and began reading the help. You refer to a section "Installation of the driver for DMX-Light Interface", and I cannot find it. | |||||||||
| You probably have version 2.1 (English) where we did not include this section. Since version 3.3 (English) and 3.1 (Russian) this section was included. | |||||||||
|
|||||||||
| What are the limitations on duplicating the software in a single company? For example we have several computers we wish to program and play back on. | |||||||||
| At the moment "MultiMusic" does not put a limitation on duplicating the program, so you can create sequences, scenes and templates on 10 machines and run it in 10 different discotheques. | |||||||||

| Why do you use the 1/4 stereo jack connector for the DMX lines output, while the 3 pin XLR connector is used all over the world? | |||||||||
| Well the official standard for DMX uses 5 pin XLR connectors, but some people don't adhere to it. Taiwan production companies also use the stereo jack extensively and at the same time "MultiMusic", having been in business for 6 years, has decided that the 1/4 stereo jack is more reliable than the XLR connector. However, we now make a 3 pin XLR version of the interface that is, however, slightly more expensive. For people wishing to convert between the jack and XLR standard see the wiring diagram below. |
| When I take my show to a different venue I would like to be able to trim my standard pan/tilt positions and have all my scenes and sequences update to these new trimmed positions. | |
| From version 3.7 this feature is possible and is called "position memory". | |
|
|
| Why do we have more than one DMX output line? | |
| Not all fixtures have active DMX interfaces, so with a very long network of fixtures it is possible that the last fixtures on line will behave erratically. Each of the 4 DMX output lines (3 DMX outputs on the XLR version) has its own driver chip that allows us to increase the loading of the system. | |
| |
| What happens when you are running a show and you load a new show? Is it possible to start the new show automatically when it's loaded to prevent a period of blackout? | |
| You cannot load a new show whilst one is playing. You can, however, stop the current sequence and then load a new show. After you exit DMX Light or whilst reloading a show the interface outputs the last state of the channels. When the interface is turned on all the channels are initialised to zero. | |
| |
| I would like to control scenes and sequences from my Steinberg Cubase Compact, how can I do that? | |
| You can recall scenes as notes, on one midi channel. Program change is responsible for Sequence number. But you need to install Sonic Foundry Direct X Media driver. | |
| |
| Is it possible to set the tempo speed to really slow and really fast speeds (slower than 30 and faster than 300 BPM)? | |
| In version 3.75 and later you can set BPM to a minimum of 2 (by hand), the maximum speed is 600 BPM. | |
| |
| Is it possible to change the master panel? | |
| You can not change master panel, but many things are possible in Physical Master. | |
| |
| What is the difference between linear, exponential and logarithmic movement? | |
| The smooth movement affects the scans speed between two scenes, but it is only evident with fast scans. | |
| |
| What I have to do to move fixture's icons on the plan? | |
| You have to Unlock Icons from Setting menu. | |
| |
| I used "Black Out" button during creating of a sequence. The result was - fixture's lamp switched off. I had to wait 15 min to turn it on again. It is inconvenient. What can be done to prevent situation like this? | |
| It is very simple. You have to redefine "black out" state of the fixture in the Device Service Panel Designer. As matter of fact we can name any state of fixture as "Black Out" and use it then. | |
| |
| My scanners are quite simple they have no speed controlling. When I start playing show the beams move too fast. How can I improve it? | |
| If you want your scanners to move softly you have to choose "Smooth Movement" option from "Synch & hardware" dialog of "Setting" menu. | |
| |
| Tell me about XLR/mic/flashrom version. I could continue using it as a system, but just in case the PC bogs down, the programs are stored in the outboard gear? | |
| Reloading of flashrom is special action. Between those actions the contents of flashrom does not change. If you loaded show into flashrom, it can be an insurance for a case when you have troubles with computer. But when controller works stand-alone, IT CAN NOT BE CONTROLLED (except for hardware 3.7U with control board plugged) . It works only in sound-synch mode or tempo-track mode (you have to choose mode before loading). . As well you can choose some options before loading show in it, like ordinary or random sequence order, Blackout or Favorite scene between songs in audio pause etc. |
